My approach to therapy is active:  asking questions, offering observations, and looking for patterns.  I provide a supportive environment in which clients gain new insights, move through challenging times, and find the motivation and solutions to reach their best self.  I encourage personal development and look for effective change by focusing on each individual’s unique path to health.  In the context of a trusting, client-therapist relationship, clients are supported to challenge old beliefs, increase self-awareness, and gain a positive self-esteem.

In addition to talk therapy, some people find it helpful to utilize more experiential activities such as art therapy, journaling, and play therapy.  These creative activities promote self-expression in ways that may not have been accessible through dialogue.

I have experience working with a diverse population on a wide range of treatment issues including but not limited to the following:

  • abuse history
  • anxiety
  • attention issues
  • Autism spectrum
  • behavior problems
  • depression
  • difficulties with peer relationships
  • domestic violence
  • families in transition
  • family conflict
  • foster care
  • grief
  • major mental illnesses
  • self-injurious behaviors
  • substance abuse
  • trauma

I hold a Master’s Degree from Lesley University in Expressive Therapies, specializing in Art Therapy.  I have been a Registered Art Therapist and a Massachusetts Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 1997.
